CSc 250: Lab 12
If you cannot complete the lab in the alloted lab time, finish at home.
The first few problems involve evaluating data visualizations or infographics.
Your solutions to these problems should be placed in a text file called evaluations.txt
.
Make sure to clearly mark which response goes with each question.
Put a comment of the below form above each of the responses.
Problems 1-5
Oroblems 1-5 show a unique data-vis/infographic.
Take a close look at each of them, one-by-one.
Answer each of the below questions as it related to each visualization separately:
- (A) What is this visualization trying to communicate?
Is it clear?
If so, what are the key take-aways?
- (B) What problems does this visualization suffer from?
- (C) Are all of the dimensions (color, shape, x, y, z, etc) used effectively?
Are there wasted dimensions?
- (D) Describe in words how you would visualize the data differently, to help address the issues.
Your answers don’t need to be elaborate.
One short paragraph (or even one, well-constructed sentence) per-question is sufficient.
If the visualizations are too small, go ahead and right-click on them to download to your computer, and then open it up in an image viewer.
